‘A Year on Planet Earth’ Soundtrack Album Released

Silva Screen Records has released a soundtrack album for the ITV nature documentary series A Year on Planet Earth. The album features the show’s original music composed by Jasha Klebe (Our Planet II, Planet Earth II, Animal, The Black Godfather, Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out audio samples. A Year on Planet Earth is narrated by Steven Fry and looks at the ways in which all life is impacted by the Earth’s journey around the sun. The Plimsoll production examines how massive seasonal events affect the lives of individual animals as their stories develop across the year. The 6-part series, which first premiered in the UK last December on ITVX, made its U.S. debut on Fox Nation this past February and currently airs in the UK Sunday nights on ITV.

Carly Paradis Scoring ITV’s ‘Delia Balmer’

Carly Paradis (The InnocentsThe Rising, Sick Note, Whitstable Pearl, Prime Suspect 1973) has recently been recording her score for the upcoming ITV original series Delia Balmer. The show is written by Nick Stevens (In Plain Sight) based on Balmer’s book Living with a Serial Killer and stars Anna Maxwell Martin and Shaun Evans. The 4-part true crime drama is directed by Julia Ford and tells the true story of Delia Balmer who survived a near-fatal relationship with murderer John Sweeney. Simon Heath is executive producing the project for World Productions. Paradis has previously scored the Heath-produced and Stevens-scripted series The Pembrokeshire Murders and also composed the music for World Productions’ Line of Duty. Delia Balmer is expected to premiere in the UK later this year on ITV and ITVX.

Lindsay Wright Scoring ITV’s & BritBox’s ‘Archie’

Lindsay Wright (Without Sin, This Is Joan Collins,The Whistleblowers, The Mystery of D.B Cooper) is scoring the upcoming ITV/BritBox drama Archie. The show is written by Jeff Pope (Philomena, Stan & Ollie) and stars Jason Isaacs as actor Cary Grant, as well as Harriet Walter, Laura Aikman, Kara Tointon, Dainton Anderson, Calam Lynch and Oaklee Pendergast. The 4-part series directed by Paul Andrew Williams (Bull, White Dragon) intercuts scenes from the Hollywood legend’s childhood living in extreme poverty in the early 20th Century with his life in 1961 at the height of his fame. Pope is also executive producing the Etta Pictures production with Grant’s daughter Jennifer, as well as BritBox International’s Diederick Santer (Grantchester, Flowers). Wright has previously collaborated with Pope & Williams on the 2021 series The Walk-In. Archie will premiere in the UK this November on ITVX (before making its debut on ITV a few months later) and in other markets on BritBox.

Wright has also recently scored the Johnny Flynn- & Roisin Gallagher-starring Sky comedy The Lovers, which just premiered overseas earlier this month.

Banijay Music has released a soundtrack album for the new ITV drama Three Little Birds. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Benjamin Burrell (Shortcut). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on most major digital music services, including Amazon. Listen to the composer’s title track below. Three Little Birds is created by Sir Lenny Henry and stars Rochelle Neil, Yazmin Belo, Saffron Coomber, Javone Prince, Leemore Marrett Jr, Arthur Darvill, Bobby Gordon and Amy Beth Hayes. The 6-part drama executive produced by Russell T Davies is inspired by Lenny Henry’s mother’s stories about leaving Jamaica in the 1950s for Great Britain, which became her lifelong home and where she raised her family. The series is premiering in the UK today on ITV.

Silva Screen Records has released a soundtrack album for the ITV drama The Long Shadow. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Sarah Warne (Des, Humans, Time, Steeltown Murders, Hollington Drive, Dark Money, The Drowning). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Also check out the composer’s title track after the jump. The Long Shadow is written by George Kay and stars Toby Jones, David Morrissey, Lee Ingleby, Katherine Kelly, Jill Halfpenny, Liz White, Jasmine Lee-Jones and Daniel Mays. The 7-part series directed by Lewis Arnold depicts the desperate five-year hunt for real-life serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, focusing on victims who crossed his path and the officers at the heart of the police investigation. The New Pictures production, which premiered last month, currently airs in the UK every Monday night on ITV and ITVX and will make its U.S. debut on Sundance Now.

‘Platform 7’ Soundtrack Album Released

Bold Model has released a soundtrack album for the ITVX drama Platform 7. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Toydrum (Detour, Slow Horses, Prevenge, Three Pines, The Banishing, Future WorldSweetheart). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. Listen to the composers’ title track below. Platform 7 is written by Paula Milne based on the bestselling novel by Louise Doughty and stars Jasmine Jobson, Toby Regbo, Yaamin Chowdhury and Phil Davis. The 4-part psychological thriller directed by Geoffrey Sax follows a woman who – after witnessing a cataclysmic event on a train platform – finds her fragmented memory jogged to reveal a connection between her own life and that of the event she has just witnessed. The series premiered in the UK last Thursday on ITVX before making its debut on the ITV channel next year.

HTM Television has released a soundtrack album for the ITV drama Payback. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Chris Roe (Trigger PointBlue Jean, Mission Control: The Unsung Heroes of Apollo, After Love, Wolf, ArmstrongLancaster). Payback is written by Debbie O’Malley and stars Morven Christie, Peter Mullan, Prasanna Puwanarajah and Derek Riddell. The 6-part crime thriller directed by Jennie Darnell & Andrew Cumming follows a woman who he becomes entangled in a perilous police operation to topple a notorious crime lord. The series premiered this past October on ITV (in the UK) and BritBox (in the U.S.).

Blair Mowat Scoring ITV’s ‘After the Flood’

Blair Mowat (ClassNolly, Doctor Jekyll, The Amazing Mr. Blunden, McDonald & Dodds, Electric Man) is the composer of the new ITV mystery drama After the Flood. The show is created by Mick Ford and stars Sophie Rundle, Philip Glenister, Lorraine Ashbourne, Nicholas Gleaves, Jonas Armstrong, Matt Stokoe, Jacqueline Boatswain and Anita Adam Gabay. The 6-part series is set in a town hit by a devastating flood and follows a police offer who becomes obsessed with discovering what happened to an unidentified man whois found dead in a lift in an underground car park. Ford is also executive producing the project with Quay Street Productions’ Nicola Shindler (Years and Years, It’s a Sin) and Richard Fee (Stay Close, The Stranger), Azhur Saleem, Huw Kennair-Jones (Fleming, Bedslam), as well as Reemah Sakaan & Stephen Nye (Payback). After the Flood will premiere in the UK on January 10, 2024 on ITV and ITVX and will debut in the U.S. on BritBox.

Mowat has also recently scored the BBC movie Men Up written by Matthew Barry, directed by Ashley Way and starring Aneurin Barnard, Phaldut Sharma, Alexandra Roach and Iwan Rheon. The film, which tells the true story of one of the world’s first medical trials for the drug that became Viagra, will premiere in the UK this Friday, December 29 on BBC One. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score will be announced soon.

Leon Vynehall Scoring ITV’s ‘Breathtaking’

British electronic music artist and house producer Leon Vynehall has made his television scoring debut on the new ITV drama Breathtaking. The show is written by Rachel Clarke, Jed Mercurio (Bodyguard, Line of Duty) and Prasanna Puwanarajah based on Clarke’s personal memoir and stars Joanne Froggatt, Bhav Joshi, Donna Banya, Stephanie Street, Joseph Charles, Thom Petty and Naomi Denny. The 3-part series takes place during the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic, weeks before the UK’s first national lockdown, and follows an acute medicine consultant and her team as they struggle with the first wave of patients and are forced to make difficult healthcare decisions as her colleagues begin to be infected with the virus. Craig Viveiros (Angela Black, The War of the Worlds) has directed all episodes. Clarke, Mercurio & are also executive producing the HTM Television production. Vynehall has previously composed the music for the 2022 feature The Seven Faces of Jane. Breathtaking is premiering in the UK tonight on ITV and will also be available to stream on ITVX.
